"importing midi files from the new xt2 beta into the latest version of ableton live seems to work.
here ends my beef with xt software. however, i think they made some bad judgement calls regarding respect for the users in the recent past. plus pretty daft marketing - i'm sorry m8, but you do look like a vampire in that video.
now i have a way of salvaging many hours of work without putting nearly as many hours into the process, which is all i could *really* ask for. no one forced me into using xt2... it was a personal choice based on the promise of a workflow that (still) makes sense for me.
it was a conscious choice between knowing that some features weren't implemented/were experimental and the general experience of spending many hours at a computer composing music. i always felt that any complaints i may have should be carefully pondered against the fact of the simple existence of xt2. no xt2... no complaints to begin with, right? so i tried to be as patient as i could before complaining. i ended up complaining a lot. and on top of that i was blatently lied to in what concerns xt2.5's january release. i'm trying to be fair here... and... yes... i was lied to.
my grievance towards xt software was that they chose to lie to me and dozens/hundreds of other human beings that trusted them (morally/ethically, not by any particular rule of law) making them choose a particular course of action in their day-to-day life as opposed to another. meaning... if i had known for sure that midi export would be added to xt2 at the end of febuary, i could have done something different with the few spare time i have for music (amidst work) in the meantime. that's all i ever asked for: honesty, as opposed to a "marketing strategy" based on the flawed status quo in which our society resides. maybe that was asking too much. and after being able to salvage my work, i no longer hold a grudge towards xt software.
i have a deep respect for the time any person puts into a project that might benifit others. might that be a movie, work of art in it's many disciplines... or a software tool. this means that i rarely feel the need to complain about something that other people are putting a effort into providing me: as long as those persons follow through on the same principles.
best of luck jorgen, i hope that someday i can genuinely pick up the midi export enabled version of xt2 and make music with it. the problem right now is that it's been a long time coming, and no one came forth the tell me how long it would take.
edit:
me taking back the comparison with george w. bush depends on obama being any better, which i doubt at the moment. sorry... t'was the heat of the moment that made me write that.... but the cold reality of this moment won't allow me any other stance."
