1. GREENFLY & Neil Mac - Hypnosis
Greenfly kicks off the EP in style with Hypnosis, a long-overdue collaboration with co-label boss, Neil Mac. The track kicks off with a heavy positive break with interweaving synth sounds fading in and out. Heavy filtered guitar riffs take you up to the first breakdown, a pulsating, breathing ominous bass sound driving you through a thick forest of sound then it drops in style with a fat analogue bass groove over fast percussive solid breaks. This track really takes you on a journey with it's different sections, pulsating, almost hypnotic synth patterns. High quality stuff from Greenfly and what is now quickly becoming one of the 'buy on sight' labels.
2. GREENFLY - Yeah Man
This track has it all, funk, soul and a tight Amen break. No messing around with this one, straight in with the B Line, supported by Clavs and Rhodes leading you up to the trademark moog solo and those glorious golden horn sounds. Then it drops into a vocal "yeah" sample and brings things deep, down and rolling. The track is a seriously funky roller, guaranteed to get the headz nodding and the ladies shaking their bootys. Fast soul funk music with style.
3. GREENFLY - Be There
The track starts with warm lush ambient pads and vocals which envelope your senses like the sun on a hot day warming you right through. Stomping kick and snare follow, with quality overlaying break with snippets of bass to
follow. The lush pad morphs into a gated pad sound providing extra rhythm up to the breakdown. The tune then explodes with a massive tumbling B line, still keeping the feel as the pads fade in once again. Dirty bass sounds compliment the 'tumbler' B line. This track reminds us what lush soundscapes Greenfly is capable of whilst keeping it very dancefloor friendly, good combination of lush sounds over banging rhythm section. Class.
4. GREENFLY & Neil Mac feat. Bird - Playing Tunes
Saving the best (arguably) til last, Greenfly collaborates once again with Neil Mac and brings back the awesome Bird on this soul-influenced amen track. Kicking off with swirly hammond organ chords overlayed with fender rhodes, with vocal teasers carefully layered on top. Bird really belts out the vocal in the drop over a half time break which is quickly followed by a heavy rolling Amen break with Greenfly donning his bass guitar once again for the B line. It's all about the 2nd drop this one, Bird breaks us down with his sublime voice over layers of strings, organs and keys, then back in with the break..and wait, where's the B Line ? BANG, there it is. This track has been sending shivers down spines all over every dancefloor in the UK and rounds up this long awaited and much anticipated offering from the superfly green guy.
