THE SECT
Initially meeting through mutual friends in the late 1990s, Blade and Virtua have been producing Drum & Bass together ever since. Long-time friend and DJ partner Method joined soon after, completing the trio and The Sect was born.
Hooking up with Raiden and Propaganda whilst living in Southampton, they all share the same love of driving, underground drum and bass, especially the breaks, techno and futuristic soundscapes that embody the Offkey sound. This culminated in their first signing to the label - 'Nerve Attack'.
Heavily influenced by the futuristic releases on Underfire, the techno-edged Konflict sound and the early Prodigy tracks, The Sect aim to produce forward-thinking music which blends techno and drum and bass elements to move the dance floor.
They are no strangers to the 1210s either, Blade & Method having DJ'd regularly at clubs and events across the UK and abroad for over ten years and Virtua showcasing his turntablist skills at the DMC championships.
Although as individuals they have had various releases across a number of different genres (currently Virtua is enjoying success as one half of burgeoning Breakbeat duo Digital Breaks Foundation), together they are committed to pushing the technoid Drum & Bass sound and are excited to be a part of the Offkey family.
With current releases on Offkey and Obscene and also a whole host of new tracks signed to Offkey, Freak, Position Chrome, ELP and Habit, The Sect are picking up interest from a lot of big name players within the scene, plus establishing themselves as big favourites of die hard Drum and Bass fans all over the world. Playing at nights throughout the UK and Europe, these guys are destroying dance floors wherever they play, or even where their tunes are played.
RAIDEN
Offkey's head honcho Raiden aka Christopher Jarman has been one of the most ground breaking artists in drum and bass for the past 7 years. His massive anthem on Renegade Hardware 'Fallin' was voted in the top 20 best Drum & Bass tracks of all time. This was followed by a prolific release schedule on his home Label Renegade Hardware before he decided to take complete artistic control over his career and launch Offkey. Heavily influenced by the cold hypnotism of early Techno music, his mission has been to bring that icy atmosphere into his productions and DJ sets, resulting in the birth of what people refer to now as techno drum and bass (not that he's happy with this term).
4 years ago Raiden packed his bags having lived in many countries such as UK, USA and Holland before settling into his hiding space in Tallinn Estonia, becoming some what of a recluse only appearing for his regular tour dates. He claims this to be an escape from the rat race and a focused purely on the music at hand.
In constant demand for remix work, he gave a brand new takes on some of dance music's most epic tracks; the biggest selling techno record of all time, DK8's 'Murder was the bass', Adam Freeland's 'We Want Your Sou'l and Human Resources's 'Dominator' to name a few. Releasing a string of exciting records on his OffKey Label he set the standard for techno influenced dnb ever since. Raiden also discovered new artists that he felt had the potential to do something exciting with the sound and created what is now the well known Offkey Firm which includes such luminaries as the Sect, Propaganda and Proket. Mr OffKey has collaborated with many of Drum and Bass finest artists. He has regularly released records with Labels such as Renegade Hardware, Architecture, Position Chrome, and his own OffKey imprint.
Raiden's hectic international DJ schedule has taking him to all four corners of the world many times over and has regularly performed at many of the worlds top clubs such as the Liquid rooms in Japan and his residency at the infamous End club in London and regular annual tours of North America, Russia & Australia
